Mississippi River Forum: Cleaning up the Minnesota River

Larry Gunderson, MPCA Project Coordinator
MN Pollution Control Agency (MPCA)

Participants of the May 7 Mississippi River Forum workshop heard speaker Joel Stiras refer to the Minnesota River as the "pink elephant in the room" when it comes to the health of the Mississippi River south of the rivers' confluence. Although the Minnesota River's role in impacting the Mississippi River is becoming more widely known, not everyone in the Mississippi River's "clean water world" is familiar with the status of efforts to address the Minnesota River's turbidity (cloudiness) pollution.

Mr. Gunderson's discusses how the state proposes to clean up this problem, and to hear what the Mississippi River community can do to improve the situation.
