Big River Art Contest 2012
The Big River Art Contest allows 4th - 6th grade students to share their experiences with the Mississippi River by creating a piece of art. While the Big River Art Contest is part of educational programs of the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area such as Big River Journey and Journey to the Falls, it is open to any 4th - 6th grade student. Get out and explore the Mississippi River and then share your experience with other by creating an art piece.

The river is so shallow at Lake Itasca that children can walk across the Mississippi. Between Governor Nicholls Wharf and Algiers Point in New Orleans, the Mississippi is more than 200 feet deep.
