Minuteman Missile Junior Ranger Badge A great way for kids to learn about the history of Minuteman missiles and the Cold War is through the site's Junior Ranger program. Programs for 7-11 year olds and 12 and up age groups are available by clicking on Be A Junior Ranger! Those who complete the program will be issued their very own official certificate and Minuteman Missile Junior Ranger Patch or Badge!

The only Minuteman Missile ever launched out of an active silo took place at a silo north of Newell, South Dakota on March 1, 1965. The flight only lasted a total of seven seconds with the rocket landing in a nearby pasture.
