Trash Policy

Why are there no trash receptacles?
Minute Man National Historical Park has a carry in, carry out policy. What you tote in, you must tote out. This includes any form of trash; bottles, cans, paper, left over lunch bages, wrappers, etc. There are no public trash receptacles in the Park to dispose of waste materials.

While Minute Man National Historical Park does have a recycling program, it is not equipped to handle the waste generated by every park visitor. Please remember to pack discarded materials or any such other items out with you as you prepare to leave, and leave the park beautiful for others to enjoy.

Did You Know?

The North Bridge Monument

The first monument at the North Bridge site was dedicated on July 4th, 1837. "The Concord Hymn," written by Ralph Waldo Emerson, was sung during the ceremony, and thus the phrase "the shot heard round the world" was linked with the North Bridge fight for the first time. Henry David Thoreau sang in the choir.
