Entrance Fee-Free Days in 2014

Mesa Verde National Park, along with all National Park Service sites, will waive its entrance fee as part of a nationwide initiative to encourage everyone to visit their national park. This year, the entrance fee-free days are:

January 20 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
February 15 to 17 Presidents Day Weekend
April 19 to 20 National Park Week's Opening Weekend
August 25 National Park Service Birthday
September 27 National Public Lands Day
November 11 Veterans Day


Did You Know?

Baron Gustaf Nordenskiold

In 1891, Swedish scientist Gustaf Nordenskiold studied, explored, and photographed many of Mesa Verde’s cliff dwellings. Considered by many to be the first true archeologist at Mesa Verde, his book, "The Cliff Dwellers of the Mesa Verde," was the first extensive record of its cliff dwellings.
