Meridian Hill Park Renovation
Meridian Hill Park is currently undergoing a $6.2 million renovation which began in 2003 and will end in 2010. The work is being done is phases so that sections of the park can remain open to the public during construction.

$3.2 million was spent during Phase I construction. Work during this phase included major infrastructure repair/replacement such as replacing the pump and piping system to ensure that all fountains in the park will work, including the most prominent feature of the park, the cascade. Initial repair and restoration of the park’s historic concrete, including walls, pavement, stairways, concrete piers and pools, and replication of decorative concrete features throughout the park were undertaken and electrical repairs made.

Phase II work is currently underway and includes restoration of the historic police lodge house on the park’s upper level. The lodge house will contain office space for police and other personnel. It will also offer new and accessible facilities for the public, including accessible restrooms and water fountain.
