Even-Aged Stands: A new generation of bishop pine forest rebounded after the Vision Fire. Here, a dense stand of 8-year old trees intermingles with blue blossom ceanothus and coyote brush. The standing dead trees are the parents of the younger ones. Typically, all trees in a bishop pine stand are the same age, which is the number of years since the last fire. The life cycle of a bishop pine forest begins and ends with a stand replacing fire which gives rise to new, even-aged stands of trees.
