The John Quincy Adams (viewer's left) and the John Adams (viewer's right) Birthplaces. The oldest presidential birthplaces in the country, they were the setting for many revolutionary war events that involved the Adams family. In the John Quincy Birthplace, Abigail penned her famous correspondence to her husband who was away first at the Continental Congress in Philadelphia and then later in Europe on diplomatic service. Abigail's letters to John from this location include the famous "Remember the ladies" letter. Also in this house in 1779 John drafted the Massachusetts State Constitution. In the John Adams Birthplace in 1775 & 1776 Abigail domiciled patriot families who fled Boston while it was being occupied by British forces.
