Jane Hunt invited Lucretia Mott, Mary Ann M'Clintock, Martha Wright, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton to spend the day together here on Sunday, July 9, 1848. That day after much discussion in the front parlor, together the women decided to call the first-ever women's rights convention. It was held July 19 and 20, 1848 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Seneca Falls. The house has not yet been restored to its 1848 appearence. Park staff has several historic studies underway that will eventaully be used to recreate the backdrop to this historic meeting.
