Pets

Dogs are welcome at Manzanar. A walk around our auto tour road is an enjoyable break from the car for dogs and humans. Dogs must be on a leash and please clean up after your pets. Pets are not allowed in buildings or within the fenced cemetery area. Please be aware that our parking lot has no shade and summer temperatures are frequently over 100°.

Did You Know?
One hundred fifty Japanese Americans died while interned at Manzanar, but only six are still buried in the cemetery. Most of the 150 people were cremated, and others were removed from the cemetery after the war.
