Manzanar National Historic Site
Oral History

In 2006 Manzanar received an NPS Challenge Cost Share grant to expand our oral history program. Together with grant partners Cal State Fullerton, DENSHO, and others, we greatly expanded the number of oral histories collected and preserved. Rangers Richard Potashin, Erin Rose, and Alisa Lynch interviewed 56 people in 2006. Erin reports, "Conducting oral histories is very rewarding. We met dozens of people and learned more about their family history and personal experiences. We have developed friendships and relationships with two Japanese American churches and a community center in Los Angeles."

Please stay tuned to this website as we update our oral history collection. We hope eventually to have transcripts available on this website.
