Manassas National Battlefield Park NPS Photo The most important issue that natural resource managers face at Manassas National Battlefield is the protection and preservation of the local environment. When considering the local environment, the integrity of both natural and cultural resources must be evaluated. Projects that are currently underway address issues such as non-native plant species, plant and animal pests, restoration of scenic vistas and the water quality of ponds and streams with in the park. |

Small mammal trapping is one way our Natural Resource Management team monitors the ecosystems and environmental conditions of the park. Frequent catches include mice, voles, and flying squirrels.
