Kitchen

The kitchen was a favorite place for everyone in the family. Wonderful smells of coffee brewing, bacon frying, and biscuits baking came from the kitchen in the morning. Grandmother Williams did much of the cooking for the family. Often M.L. could be found in the kitchen talking to his grandmother and sampling her cooking. They had a special bond. In addition to cooking M.L.’s favorite foods, she was protective of him and couldn’t bear to see him cry.  As an adult, Dr. King said of his grandmother, “She was very dear to each of us, but especially to me.”
