Researching Architecture at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park
November 20, 2013
At this time I am researching architecture. I will study the architectural style called “The Second Empire”. My essential question is: “What are the unique characteristics of this style?” Some of the characteristics are the mansard roof and the clock tower. I think Madame Hanson is a good tour guide and is very friendly. I believe Madame Hanson has a good accent. I learned a lot about the Park. Although I visited the Park before, it was different in French. The guided tour was informative and educational. Overall I think the project is good.

In the early 1860s Vermonter Frederick Billings, then living in California, purchased and sent photographs of Yosemite Valley to influential eastern friends to make the case for its preservation. You can see these photographs, and paintings of Yosemite, at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller NHP.
