2009 Fall Offerings at Lowell National Historical Park
Lowell National Historical Park, one of over 390 units of the National Park Service, preserves and interprets the history of the American Industrial Revolution in Lowell, Massachusetts. The park in downtown Lowell includes historic cotton textile mills, 5.6 miles of power canals, operating gatehouses, and worker housing. The Park offerings from September 8 through October 12, 2009 are adjusted for the season.

Teachers Immersed in Lowell National Historical Park Resources
This summer the Tsongas Industrial History Center, a partnership of Lowell National Historical Park and its partner, the University of Massachusetts Lowell's Graduate School of Education, hosted an unprecedented four weeks of residential teacher workshops. One hundred and seventeen teachers, selected from nearly 270 applicants, participated in a prestigious National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) “Landmarks of American History and Culture” teacher workshop entitled “Inventing America - Lowell and the Industrial Revolution.”

23rd Lowell Folk Festival
Historic downtown Lowell, Massachusetts became the setting for the 23rd Lowell Folk Festival July 24-26. Tens of thousands of visitors enjoyed the array of traditional music, crafts, and foods at six performance stages, street-side locations, and other venues. Saturday’s truly summer-like weather drew tremendous crowds.

Youth Theater Program Portrays Historical Figures at Lowell National Historical Park
Historical figures like Kirk Boott, Lucy Larcom, and assorted mill girls and canal diggers of the past, once again walk the cobblestone streets of Lowell. Members of the Youth Theater Program bring these 19th-century characters to life under the aegis of the “Spindle City Corps,” a partnership between Lowell National Historical Park and Community Teamwork, Inc.

The Park’s commitment to engaging youth through partnerships is long-standing.
