Atlanta to Fort Payne Directions

Atlanta to Fort Payne

  1. Take I-75 North
  2. Take Exit #288 for GA-113 toward Cartersville/Main Street                 0.3 mi
  3. Exit 288 turns LEFT and becomes GA-113 S/E Main Street                   2.0 mi
  4. Turn RIGHT at US-41 N       5.7 mi
  5. Take the US-441 S/GA-20 W ramp to Rome                                 0.5 mi
  6. Merge onto GA-20 W/US-411 S 18.4 mi
  7. Merge onto GA-20 W/GA-53 N/US-27 N via the ramp to Rome
  8. Continue to follow GA-20 W 20.4 mi
  9. Continue on AL-9                        4.9 mi
  10. Turn RIGHT on AL-35 - follow to the Preserve.

You are now in the Preserve. Little River Falls is on your LEFT before the bridge. Highway 176 is past the bridge on your LEFT if you want to take the scenic drive to view the canyon from the overlooks (very little walking is required).

 

Go to Park Headquarters to get maps, passport stamps, etc.

  1. Continue on AL-35 past the falls/bridge for 5 miles to flashing yellow light.
  2. Continue STRAIGHT down the mountain on AL-35 toward Fort Payne.
  3. Turn RIGHT  at the flashing light onto 5th Street NE/AL-35 at the bottom of the mountain.
  4. Go straight until you come to US-11/Gault Avenue (Union Park on left)
  5. Turn RIGHT on US-11 / Gault Avenue North - go 16 blocks.
  6. We are on the RIGHT just past Shipman Refrigeration. If you pass Western Sizzlin Restaurant (on your left), you missed us.
