MINERAL, CA - To honor America's service men and women, Lassen Volcanic National Park will join other areas managed by the Department of the Interior in waiving entrance fees Tuesday, November 11. "We invite visitors to come to Lassen Volcanic National Park and enjoy the day in honor of our veterans and their role in keeping America safe," stated Acting Park Superintendent Steve Gibbons.

On November 11, Lassen Volcanic National Park visitors will not be charged an entrance fee and may simply come to the park and enjoy the opportunities to explore unique volcanic landscapes, enjoy scenic vistas, and take in Lassen's beauty. Many hiking trails remain accessible and snow free and we invite you to come take a hike in the park. The Lassen National Park Highway is currently open to traffic and will remain open for the fee free day, weather permitting.

Lassen Volcanic National Park is transitioning into our winter season, getting ready for snow to blanket the park. Soon you will be able to explore an entirely different side of Lassen through winter activities like snowshoeing, skiing and sledding. The winter issue of the park newspaper, Peak Experiences, is now available at the park and surrounding businesses as well as on the park website.

Lassen Volcanic National Park continues to solicit visitor feedback on proposed fee increases. As part of future rate settings, the park is interested in what visitors consider is appropriate for entrance fees and camping. "We invite the public to give us their thoughts and comments on the fees charged at Lassen Volcanic National Park," stated Acting Superintendent Gibbons. For a complete listing of our fees please visitwww.nps.gov/lavo. Comments can be submitted to the park directly via email to lavo_planning@nps.gov with the subject line "fee increase" or by mail to: Lassen Volcanic National Park, Re: Fee Increase Proposal, P.O. Box 100, Mineral, CA 96063.

The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is open 9 am to 5 pm Wednesday through Sundays. For more information, please contact the park at (530) 595-4480 or visit the park website at www.nps.gov/lavo.
