Park Highway Closed to Through Traffic
Lassen National Park Highway is closed to through traffic. The highway is open to the the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center (1 mile inside the southwest entrance) and the Devastated Area (10 miles inside the northwest entrance). Snow removal has begun. More »
National Park Service Releases Reading Fire Review

MINERAL - The National Park Service released its report on the Reading Fire on January 29, 2013. The Reading Fire started from a lightning strike in the interior of Lassen Volcanic National Park on July 23, 2012. It eventually burned outside the park onto national forest and private land.

The Lassen Smelowskia flower only grows within Lassen Volcanic National Park, with the largest population on Lassen Peak, and is considered a Threatened and Endangered Species.
