| You always used to see the Army soldiers from Fort Spokane marching with their guns or riding their horses near where you lived on the reservation. They would pass by on the way to somewhere about three times per year. But last year, you never saw the soldiers. Either they had marched somewhere else last year or they had left. Though you thought that it was strange not to see the soldiers last year, it really did not matter much to you. The soldiers never bothered you and you never bothered them. You hardly even noticed that there was an Army fort a few miles away and across the river. |
