The purpose of the compendium is to provide the public and park employees with a document listing the special designations, closures, public use limits, permit requirements and other restrictions imposed under the discretionary authority of the Superintendent.. If you have a question that involves whether what you are doing is legal, or not, then you can look in the Superintendent's Compendium to find your answer. All laws and regulations are made to protect fragile natural and cultural resources. These laws and regulations also protect park visitors so we, and our future generations, may keep coming back to enjoy our National Parks. Superintendent's Compendium Firearms in National Parks As of February 22, 2010, a federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under applicable federal, state, and local laws, to legally possess firearms in this park. It is the responsibility of visitors to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws before entering this park. Federal law also prohibits firearms in certain facilities in this park; those places are marked with signs at all public entrances. |
