Tragedy strikes Lake Mohave boater

Return to Menu

Bullhead City police divers continue to work with rangers from Katherine Ranger Station today, seeking a boater who apparently drowned late yesterday afternoon near mile-marker six at Lake Mohave.

The boater was engaged in towing his child on an inflatable when the child apparently fell into the water. The father, said to be a strong swimmer, dove into the lake to rescue his son but was unable to stay afloat and after pushing his child away he sunk into the lake and was not seen thereafter.

Diving operations were suspended Monday due to darkness and resumed at first light this morning.

The boater is identified as Robert J. Glinkie, 43, of Yorba Linda, Calif.

The National Park Service will conduct an investigation into the incident.

Katherine Ranger Station is a unit of Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the National Park Service.
