National Park Service LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA WELCOMES NEW PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER LAS VEGAS - Lake Mead National Recreation Area is pleased to announce the selection of Christie Vanover as its new Public Affairs Specialist. Vanover most recently served as the U.S. Army Chief of Command Information at Fort Hood, Texas. She has a bachelor's degree in advertising with a secondary major in recreation from Western Kentucky University and a master's degree in journalism and mass communications from Kansas State University. Vanover has held a number of important public affairs/public relations positions at several U.S. Army installations and taught public relations writing at Kansas State University. She is highly respected for her public affairs work within the U.S. Army, and has received numerous awards, including the U.S. Army Forces Command Civilian Journalist of the Year Award four years in a row.
