HIKERS NEEDED FOR LAKE MEAD TRAIL TRACKER PROGRAM
LAS VEGAS – The National Park Service is looking for hiking enthusiasts interested in taking a lead role in protecting trails and monitoring wildlife and plants in Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Trail Trackers help monitor and observe park resources, make minor trail repairs, remove litter, and report unsafe conditions to park rangers. Volunteers commit to hiking at least once a month, at a time that is convenient for their schedule.
“This program gives hikers the opportunity to take an active role in caring for their favorite trail,” said Nancy Barnard, volunteer coordinator for Lake Mead National Recreation Area. “It’s a chance to make a difference,” she said.
All supplies and equipment are provided by the National Park Service. There are limited opportunities to participate in Trail Tracker Leader training sessions.
