UPCOMING EVENTS AT LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA NOV 10-12


BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The following events are happening at Lake Mead National Recreation Area Nov. 10-12

Free park admission Nov 10-12

To honor America's military, the National Park Service is offering free admission to all guests Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 10-12. Fee-free days only apply to entrance fees. Fees for camping, lake use or use of concessions still apply. At the park headquarters, the Western National Parks Association Bookstore will offer a 15 percent discount on all bookstore items, such as books, postcards, T-shirts and other gifts. Open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, the bookstore is located at 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Hike Anniversary Narrows Nov 10

Take a moderate three-mile guided hike through Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Anniversary Narrows Nov. 10. Hike up Lovell Canyon to the remains of an abandoned town site and borax mine. Continue onto a scenic canyon, aptly named The Narrows. Four-wheel drive is required to get to the trailhead of this hike. Call 702-293-8990 to register or for more information. Reservations are required. Dogs are not permitted.

Placer Cove beach clean-up Nov 10

Volunteers are needed to help the National Park Service pick up litter around the Placer Cove shoreline and natural area at Lake Mead National Recreation Area Nov. 10. Individuals and groups are welcome to participate. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the event is 9 a.m. to noon. To register, call Bryan Goodwin at 702-293-8717 or email e-mail us.

Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride Nov 10

Around 300 cyclists will ride through Lake Mead National Recreation Area Nov. 10 along Lake Mead Boulevard and Lakeshore Drive. The Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride, which supports wounded warriors, will enter Lake Mead NRA through the Lake Mead Boulevard entrance station and will exit through the Boulder station. Visitors to Lake Mead may experience delays along Lakeshore Drive. Drivers should use caution when passing cyclists. Cyclists are reminded that they must bike in single file on the roadways. Relay race Nov 10

Around 8,000 runners will race through Lake Mead National Recreation Area along River Mountain Loop Trail Nov. 10 for the Ragnar Relay Race. Runners will enter Lake Mead NRA through the Boulder entrance station and will exit through the Lake Mead Parkway station. Visitors to Lake Mead may experience delays along Lakeshore Drive.
