TRAFFIC ADVISORY: EXPECT DELAYS ON LAKESHORE ROAD SEPT 22

LAS VEGAS - Visitors to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area should expect delays and exercise caution on park roads 6-11 a.m. Sept. 22 due to the RTC 2012 Viva Bike Vegas Gran Fondo Pinarello bicycle event.

Up to 2,000 cyclists will travel along Lake Mead Parkway in Henderson where they will enter the park and turn onto Lakeshore Road. Cyclists will exit the park at U.S. Highway 93 and head toward Hoover Dam.

Visitors are reminded to share the road and pass only when safe to do so in a passing zone. The National Park Service is requiring all cyclists to travel in single file, except when passing. Parking will not be permitted along the cycling course.

The park will remain open to the public during the event.
