LAS VEGAS - Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies spent four hours looking for a Bullhead City, Ariz., man who fled park rangers during a traffic stop at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The man identified as Darren Eugene Morrison, 26, was pulled over by park rangers for erratic driving.

Morrison drove away following the park ranger's initial contact with his stopped vehicle. Park rangers gave chase and pursued Morrison for about a half mile until he stopped his car and fled on foot into the desert near Las Vegas Bay.

Park rangers believe Morrison fled because he is wanted on a felony arrest warrant for aggravated assault out of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. They don't believe he was armed nor is he believed to be a threat to the general public.

Park rangers, Nevada game wardens, and officers from Las Vegas Metro Police and Hoover Dam Police searched the area near Las Vegas Bay. Two Las Vegas Metro K-9 units and the National Park Service patrol aircraft were also involved in the search. Searchers did locate tracks and believe that Morrison may have gotten onto the River Mountain Loop Trail. The search for the fugitive was called off after four hours.

Anyone who has information about the whereabouts of this man should contact their local police department or the National Park Service at (702) 293-8998.
