UPDATE: 1 INJURED IN BOAT ACCIDENT AT LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - An adult male suffered injuries at Lake Mead around noon Sept. 18 after reportedly falling off a 20-foot skipjack boat.

At 12:02 p.m., Metro Police transferred a 911 call to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communication Center. The caller, a passenger on the boat, requested assistance for another passenger who he said was thrown from the vessel after it experienced mechanical issues.

The incident happened at the mouth of Black Canyon on Lake Mead just north of the Hoover Dam.

Emergency personnel from the National Park Service, Nevada Department of Wildlife and Bureau of Reclamation responded to the scene and transported the injured to land where he was medflighted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

According to UMC officials, he was listed in critical condition.

The incident is under investigation.
