LAS VEGAS - The National Park Service is advising visitors to expect delays and exercise caution on park roads on Nov. 5 due to the International Triathlon Union World Championship event. About 1,200 cyclists are participating.

Cyclists will be traveling from Lake Las Vegas, entering the park at the Lake Mead Parkway/Henderson entrance. The course will take them on Lakeshore Road to the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail where they will turn around and proceed to Callville Bay via Lakeshore and Northshore Roads. At Callville Bay they will turn around and head back toward the Henderson entrance.

Visitors should expect cyclists on the road from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Visitors are reminded to "share the road" and pass only when it is safe and legal. Nevada law requires motorists when passing a bicycle to move into an adjacent lane to the left if possible. If not, they must pass with at least 3 feet of clearance between their car and the bicycle. Safe passing is the motorist's responsibility. The National Park Service and race regulations require all cyclists to travel in a single file, except when passing. Shoulder parking will not be permitted along the race course.

The park and park roads will remain open to the general public during the event.
