The Climate Friendly Parks (CFP) program is one component of the National Park Service Green Parks Plan, an integrated approach by the NPS to address climate change through implementing sustainable practices in our operations. 
World's First LEED Registered Floating Green Building Lake Mead National Recreation Area is home to the first LEED registered floating green building in the world. Climate Friendly Parks Action Plan Lake Mead National Recreation Area, as a member of the Pacific West Region, is involved in the first regional effort in the National Park Service to become carbon neutral. Did You Know?
As early as 3,000 years ago, people inhabiting the Southwest began chiseling and painting pictures on rocks and cliff walls. Preserved by the dry climate, much of this rock art ranging from complicated geometric designs to huge figures, remains to puzzle, astonish, and awe modern-day viewers.
