Hike Railroad Tunnel Trail Nov 17 Take an easy five-mile guided hike through Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Railroad Tunnel Trail Nov. 17. Follow the route of the old Boulder Dam supply train through several tunnels. Along the way, learn about the lives, hardships and accomplishments of the workers who tamed the Colorado River. Hike Fortification Hill Nov 17 Take a strenuous four-mile guided hike through Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Fortification Hill Nov. 17. This hike is up Boulder Basin's most imposing mountain with multicolored, 2,000-foot-high cliffs that overlook Lake Mead. Four-wheel drive is required to get to the trailhead. MEDIA ADVISORY: Lake Mead Clean Up Nov 17 A team of volunteers from Wal-Mart and Budweiser will remove trash and debris from the shorelines of Boulder Beach 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 17. During fiscal year 2012, more than 2,800 volunteers donated 14,230 hours to remove 21.6 tons of litter from the park. Mountain Man Turkey Trot Nov 22 Around 700 people will race through Lake Mead National Recreation Area Nov. 22 along Railroad Tunnel Trail. The Turkey Trot laps at the trailhead on Lakeshore Drive to the Hoover Dam and back. Visitors to Lake Mead may experience delays along Lakeshore Drive. Nature Walk Nov 24 Take an easy two-mile guided hike through Lake Mead National Recreation Area's natural areas Nov. 24.
