The Lake Clark area is special because it has a large diversity of plants, wildlife, and topography in a small area: a microcosm of Alaska. Four of the five biotic communities found in Alaska exist in Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. These communities are, the coastal, lakes/rivers/wetlands, tundra, and forest communities.
