White Spruce trees can't live much farther north than Noatak National Preserve.
Dr. Sullivan has worked in the preserve for 8 years in aneffort to learn which environmental factors limit theirgrowth. The location of these trees affect cycles ofcarbon, water, and energy. Arctic forests also providehabitat for animals and wood for building and heating.Understanding the lives of trees in the arctic helps usunderstand our lives & the environment we depend on.
