Regional Director David Vela is pleased to announce the selection of Stanley C. Bond as the superintendent of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.  Stan will assume his duties on January 5, 2009.

Kennesaw Mountain NBP Acquires Key Land
On Saturday, March 29th, the National Park Service and the Trust for Public Land, a non-profit land conservation organization, hosted a special ceremony commemorating the addition of 35 acres of land to the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park amidst Civil War re-enactors and live period music.

The Napoleon 12-pound smoothbore cannon was probably the most effective cannon used in the Civil War. Named after Emperor Napolean III of France, it was used extensively by both the Union and Confederate forces. Soldiers liked its reliability and its sturdiness.
