When Threatened By Wildland Fire, Will Your Home Survive?

Come to the Community Firewise Workshop at the Bear Creek Fire Department on Saturday, June 28 from 10:00am - 2:30pm to learn about simple steps you can take to reduce the wildland fire threat to your home and community.

Workshop participants will also learn about wildland fire, local fire history, fire management in Alaska, wildland fire prevention in rural or remote areas, and where you can seek out further assistance. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have the necessary tools to put the Firewise program into action around their property.

Firewise is a multi-agency effort designed to reach beyond the fire service by involving homeowners, community leaders, planners, developers, and others in the effort to protect people and property from the risk of wildland fire - before a fire starts. The Firewise approach emphasizes individual responsibility for safer home construction, design, landscaping, and maintenance.
