At the base of the Harding Icefield trail there was a sure sign of mid-summer today, a baby Hermit Thrush. This one’s tail was not even fully grown in yet. Still (s)he was able to flutter from branch to branch in his immature downy plumage, screaming “SKEAT, SKEAT, SKEAT”. I’m sure whatever parent was around knew this guy was hungry and was hurrying to get something to stuff in its mouth. I was not able to get a picture before it disappeared into the alders.
