National Park Service Hosts Art Exhibit of Mikhail Kononov

Washington, D.C.—The National Park Service, National Capital Parks- East, will host an exhibit of the work of Mikhail Kononov, a Russian born artist inspired by the water plants of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. Long recognized for its ability to inspire artists, the site will have an exhibit of works by Mr. Mikhail Kononov through the month of November.

Mikhail Kononov spent the summer capturing the moods of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in   works of intense beauty, color, and texture.  “The artist’s sensitivity should allow the viewer access to another realm…”  Mr. Kononov’s works have been exhibited in Moscow, and private collections in Europe and the U.S.

Fall may be in the air, but we invite the public to re-experience summer’s spirit in Mr. Kononov’s art from 8 am to 3:30 pm, daily except Thanksgiving Day.

The park is open from 7:30 am to 4 pm daily. The park’s visitor center is open from 8 am to 3:45 pm (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas day and New Year’s Day). Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, part of National Capital Parks-East, is the only national park established for the propagation of water plants.  For more information, contact the park directly at 202-426-6905 or visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/keaq.
