Magiek Volcano at the head of the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes

Katmai National Monument was created on September 24, 1918 by President Woodrow Wilson to protect features of the 1912 eruption of Novarupta Volcano, which created the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes.
