Student Temporary Employment Program Opportunities

Katmai National Park & Preserve occasionally hires students to fill temporary positions in various occupational fields. For these types of appointments, we use the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) hiring authority, which is a noncompetitive hiring authority. Students may be considered under the STEP authority for some of the temporary job opportunities listed under Current Job Openings, in addition to those applicants being considered through the application procedures stated in the vacancy announcements.

If you wish to be considered for temporary work with Katmai National Park & Preserve through the Student Temporary Employment Program, you must submit the following items:

  • Current resume
  • Current transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
  • Proof of enrollment, such as a letter from the registrar verifying enrollment for next term
  • Cover letter specifying your interest in the Student Temporary Employment Program, stating the type(s) of job(s) for which you wish to be considered and your dates of availability.
