A visitor center is located in the Kalaupapa Settlement at the American of Japanese Ancestry (AJA) Buddhist Hall. The visitor center offers interpretive materials and artifact exhibits. The cooperating association for the park, Arizona Memorial Museum Association (AMME) provides a small sales outlet at AJA Hall. The visitor center has limited operating hours six days per week, except Sundays. AJA Hall is one of the stops on the commercial tour.

In the late 1940's with the discovery of sulfone drugs, some of the physical barriers between patients and non-patients were removed and a number of entertainers visited Kalaupapa, including Shirley Temple, John Wayne, the Trapp Family Singers, Red Skelton, Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy.
