Anza Exhibit Mtz 6 saddle and legacy

A replica saddle to ride, displays evoking trail life, and a representation of the diversity of the expedition legacy are just part of this wonderful new exhibit.

New Anza Trail Exhibit
Come experience the first full-scale Anza Trail exhibit in Martinez, California! Located inside the Martinez Adobe at John Muir National Historic Site, this multi-sensory experience engages visitors through evocative images and an ambient soundscape, a detailed diorama portraying the vast scope of the expedition party, and interactive displays. The exhibit encompasses perspectives representing the diversity of people whose lives were changed by this significant journey.

The exhibit's grand opening event kicked off with a momentous ribbon cutting ceremony followed by live music and dance, with numerous entertaining children’s activities presenting the people, culture, and legacy of early California. Historic re-enactors and the Amigos de Anza Drill Team enhanced the living history experience, and young visitors loved trying on period costumes to become part of the expedition as well. Hundreds of visitors came to mark this milestone in the development of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, and joined in a lively celebration of history and heritage.
