The Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail closely collaborates with federal, state, and local agencies, indigenous peoples, tribes, community organizations, volunteers, private landowners, Mexican institutions, and many others. Their collaboration and contributions enrich and honor the multiple, complex, and emerging narratives through research, recreational and educational opportunities, preservation, promotion, and interpretation. These partnerships are instrumental in engaging communities along the trail.

We partner and collaborate with communities, agencies, governments, and organizations in various ways. The following are non-profit organizations that directly support the Anza Trail through fundraising, building and maintaining trails, or supporting interpretation and education programs:

The Anza Trail Foundation

A nonprofit 501(c)(3), is the Anza Trail's recognized fundraising partner for a wide variety of projects along the entire Anza Trail, including our partnership website. The Anza Trail Foundation raises visibility and promotes knowledge of the epic 18th century expeditions of Juan Bautista de Anza and preserves the Anza Trail through collaboration and partnering with organizations and individuals. The Anza Trail Coalition of Arizona

A nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to the restoration and maintenance, protection, and interpretation of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. The membership and volunteer-driven organization was founded in August, 1992 in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. ATCA works to re-establish a contiguous segment of the Anza Trail through Arizona, both on land and by car. The ATCA is a 100% volunteer-run organization. That means there are no paid employees, so 99% of funding goes directly to trail acquisition, maintenance, and public outreach, such as Anza Days in October. Partnering with county businesses, local landowners, the National Park Service, BLM, AZ State Parks and other agencies, members and volunteers of the ATCA provide interpretive information at events, renovate trail sections, re-establish and clear trail segments, install signage, and host events along the National Historic Trail.

Partnership for the National Trails System

Partnership for the National Trails System connects member not-for-profit trail organizations and federal agency partners to further the protection, completion, and stewardship of the 30 National Scenic and Historic Trails within the National Trails System. The PNTS advocates on behalf of the National Trails System as a whole for land preservation and stewardship resources. Other major roles of the PNTS include the collection and dissemination of National Trails news and the development of outreach initiatives and youth programming.

Western National Parks Association

In partnership with the National Park Service since 1938, WNPA advances education, interpretation, research, and community engagement to ensure national parks are increasingly valued by all. WNPA supports the Anza Trail by reaching communities along the trail through education programs and special events like the Anza Trail Virtual Fun Run in 2021 and 2022.

Anza Society

Members of the Anza Society facilitate the study, interpretation, commemoration, and preservation of places and artifacts relating to Juan Bautista de Anza in both the United States and Mexico.

The International Conference of the Anza Society is hosted each year in either Mexico or the United States of America. Conferences include presentations of scholarly papers, tours of historic places, and networking events.
