Pinto Basin Road has been closed due to a storm that occurred on August 25, 2013. Significant debris is blocking the roadway in the Smoke Tree Wash and Cottonwood Canyon areas. The Cottonwood Visitor Center and campground are also closed. The road will likely be closed for one to two weeks while crews clear debris and repair campgrounds.

Further updates on facility closures will be issued as conditions change.

Flash floods often catch people unaware. Use extreme caution when traveling in flood prone areas. Do not enter washes when water is running. Be observant of National Weather Service alerts and forecasts. Check the park website for additional information. www.nps.gov/jotr
