Adam Tinkle To Perform At Indian Cove

On Sunday, April 22, Joshua Tree National Park Artist-In-Residence Adam Tinkle will lead an ensemble of 20 musicians consisting of brass, woodwinds, strings, percussion, and voices in a performance of musical compositions he created during his residency. The concert, which is free to the public, will take place at the Indian Cove Campground amphitheater.

The performance will begin at 4 pm and move slowly around the amphitheater. "The audience may come and go throughout this long-form performance as they wish," said Tinkle, who is working on his PhD at the University of California, San Diego. "The acoustic group will fill the dramatic natural amphitheater with explorations of the site's acoustic phenomena, and meditations on its vast spaces and its engulfing silences," he explained.

Last year Adam composed and arranged music for a live performance by dancer and choreographer Shayna Keller. Keller, a 2011 Artist-In-Residence at Joshua Tree National Park, performed on March 19 and 20, 2011, at Indian Cove to an audience of about 100.

A free shuttle service will be provided from the Indian Cove Market to the campground amphitheater on April 22 at 3:30 pm. The shuttle will return performance attendees to the Market between 6 and 6:30 pm.
