Temporary Visitor Center to Open at Park Headquarters

JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK, Twentynine Palms, California – The visitor information desk and bookstore at Oasis Visitor Center, in Twentynine Palms will be moved to a temporary building just south of the visitor center while the park completes a seismic retrofit project for the health and safety of visitors and staff. Visitor services will be unaffected and signs will provide directions to the temporary location. The move will take effect December 29.


Construction is slated to begin January 5 and be completed by late May 2015. Project management has been assigned to the Denver Service Center, whose staff will also coordinate design, construction, and technical oversight.
