Joshua Tree National Park Artist-in-Residence Leads Photography Hikes for Park Visitors

Joshua Tree National Park, Twentynine Palms, CA — Luke Matjas, the current Artist-in-Residence at Joshua Tree National Park, will be conducting photography hikes at Barker Dam for anyone wishing to participate. The public is invited to bring any type of camera (even cell phone) and the desire to learn how to photograph unusual and, many times, unseen images of nature.

Matjas is an Associate Professor of Art and Design and the chair of Art and Performing Arts at California State University, Channel Islands. He was selected as one of only six artists from a pool of 150 applicants for this year's Artist-in-Residence program at Joshua Tree National Park.

Hikes are scheduled for:
Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 at 4:00 pm
Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 at 5:00 pm
Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015 at 9:00 am

Each 45 minute hike is free and will begin at the Barker Dam trailhead and proceed to the dam or the east catchment area with stops along the way. Water, sunscreen and footwear suitable for hiking are recommended.
