Fees & Reservations

ENTRANCE FEES for John Muir National Historic Site: Free

RESERVATIONS: Reservations are required for guided group tours of the Muir home for 10 or more people. Please allow us at least two weeks notice for group tours, and as long as 5 months during the Spring (February to mid-June), as school groups fill up tours quickly. Please call us as soon as you have a date in mind!

Reservations are not required for self-guided tours, but giving us notice of groups larger than 10 people would be appreciated.

GUIDED TOURS of the 1st floor of the Muir home are available to the general public Wednesday - Friday at 2 pm and weekends at 2 pm and 3 pm.

SELF-GUIDED TOURS of the Muir Home, surrounding orchards and the Martinez adobe are available to the general public from 10 am to 5pm.

John Muir's father-in-law, Dr. John Strentzel, came to California in the Gold Rush of '49. Already a medical doctor, he became a ferryman, a farmer, a hotel & general store manager, and a winemaker. Dr. Strentzel had exhibited award winning wines as early as 1861.
