Change In Park Schedule

PARK PURPOSE The John Muir National Historic Site, located in Martinez, California, preserves and interprets the house and grounds where John Muir lived from 1890 until his death 1914, as a public nationalmemorial in recognition of his legacy as a conservationist and a crusader for national parks and reservations.

Did You Know?
John Muir's father-in-law, Dr. John Strentzel, came to California in the Gold Rush of '49. Already a medical doctor, he became a ferryman, a farmer, a hotel & general store manager, and a winemaker. Dr. Strentzel had exhibited award winning wines as early as 1861.
