Wetlands, Marshes and Swamps
About seven acres of the historic, former lakebed at Johnstown Flood National Memorial are wetlands, dominated by wetland plants such as cattails and black willows. These wetlands support a diverse array of aquatic insects and other wildlife.
Did You Know?
People made Memory Jars from items collected among the ruins after the 1889 Flood. There is one such Memory Jar on display at the Johnstown Flood Museum.
