This fun 3 days/2 nights bike ride takes place between State and National Park sites including Florence Marina State Park, Georgia Veterans State Park, SAM Shortline Excursion Train, Jimmy Carter National Historic Site and Andersonville National Historic Site and Cemetery. The registration fee includes overnight camping and there will be entertainment, food, activities and programs along the way as well as frequent water stops.
This event is part of the Get Outdoors Georgia program that encourages Georgians to "Get Out. Get Dirty. Get Fit." in Georgia State Parks. It is also a priority initiative of President Obama's America's Great Outdoors (AGO) program. The vision of AGO to connect or re-connect Americans with the great outdoors through recreation and education. The bike ride provides healthy outdoor recreation for youth and adults and highlights the opportunities for recreation offered by the State and National Park sites.
It is hoped that this project will become an annual event that can enhance partnerships between state and federal agencies for healthy outdoor recreation and natural resource conservation in Georgia.More »
