Come join the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site for a weekend of Presidents' Day celebrations, February 15th-17th!
On Saturday, February 15th, visitors will be invited to join in a one-day only "Presidential Scavenger Hunt," during which participants will be given clues leading them to discover fascinating presidential and United States trivia. Throughout the day, a children's arts and crafts center will be available upon request.
On Sunday, February 16th at 2:00 p.m., presidential historian Dr. Larry Cook will be presenting a lecture titled "Amazing Presidential Facts and Collectibles." A book-signing session will follow.
On February 17th at 11:00 a.m., President and Mrs. Carter will be speaking in the Plains High School auditorium about their time in the White House. This will be followed by a short question and answer session and a book-signing by President Carter.Due to time constraints, he will not be able to personalize the books or autograph any other items such as photographs. Guests will be able to purchase books at the Eastern National bookstore located inside the Plains High School Museum.
Special temporary exhibits will be displayed and available for viewing throughout the weekend in honor of Presidents' Day.
Did You Know?
Jimmy Carter was the first president to be born in a hospital. He was born in the Wise Sanitarium in Plains, Georgia. The former hospital is now the Lillian G. Carter Nursing Center named after his mother who worked there as a registered nurse.
